LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A high school student is now in the hospital recovering from minor injuries after a car rear-ended a school bus.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in front of Lafayette High School, just before students were dismissed for the day.
Corporal Paul Mouton, of the Lafayette Police Department, said the driver of the car did not receive any major injuries in the crash and refused medical attention at the scene.
He also emphasised the student’s injuries were very minor.
Mona Bernard, Director of Risk Management for the Lafayette Parish School System, said the students who were on the bus attend David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy.
Students of the magnet academy are bused to Lafayette High School and then transported home.
It is unclear if the driver of the car will be cited, as the investigation of the crash is still ongoing.
