A Texas elementary school teacher has been fired after allegedly covering the mouths of her students with duct tape.

Parents were notified of the incident at Zundy Elemenatry in Wichita Falls on Friday. They say the teacher called it a “game” or lesson.

After parents filed police reports, juvenile detectives and Child Protective Services are investigating to determine if any criminal charges may be warranted.

“It’s a disturbing incident and it is no way indicative of the behavior that we expect out of teachers in our district,” Ashley Thomas, WFISD communications officer, said. “So we want students to know that they can feel safe at school that this is not something that they should fear happening again.”

While authorities handle the investigation, one mother says her child is having problems dealing with the aftermath.

“Well, not very well,” said mother Tamilyn Love. “We decided to put her into counseling. Saturday night she woke up and told me that she had a bad dream — that she was choking and couldn’t breathe because she had duck tape over her mouth.”
