Hundreds of revelers lined the streets of Lafayette waiting to catch tons of beads and throws as the annual Friday night parade rolled through town.

The Friday night parade is Lafayette’s kickoff to Mardi Gras week.

Greg Leblanc is the DJ for the new Krewe de Rondeyou from Scott. He says the parade has a great turnout each year because it’s fun for all ages.

“That’s the best thing about the Lafayette Mardi Gras is the families. That’s one of the best things, being able to bring the kids out on Tuesday and mom and dad get to have their fun over the weekend. So I like how we spread it out over a six day time period it’s pretty neat.”

Deason Wagner with the Krewe of Apollo tells KLFY’s Carly Laing that the Friday night parade is always a crowd favorite.

“The best part about Mardi Gras is the parades obviously. It’s a big party and everybody gets to come out and have a good time.”
