LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Festival International is in full swing and that means so is traffic. Festival international Marketing Director April Courville said festival goers should avoid driving around downtown.
“Parking can be a little difficult especially on the bigger nights like Saturday and Sunday. Downtown parking is limited, so if you live nearby ride your bike, walk.”
Parking will be provided free of cost at Cajun field. Shuttles will pick up and drop off every fifteen minutes all weekend long. Courville said this option is the best way to go.
“We really recommend taking the shuttle because it can be very tricky and difficult to park downtown. A lot of the streets are closed a lot of the parking is blocked off, so just to avoid the whole headache park at Cajun Field and take the shuttle.”
The shuttles are located at gate “D” near the intersection section of Congress and Cajundome Boulevard. Pick-up begins at five and ends at 11 p.m. LCG Chief Communications Officer Cydra Wingerter said for those brave enough to test the waters, parking will be available at the Buchanan parking deck.
“The price to park at the Bucanan lot is going to be three dollars. It’s a first come, first, serve basis, so once those spots are gone they are gone.”
Wingerter said the free shuttles are part of the “Go Green” initiative by LCG and Project Front Yard.
