Just after eleven on Saturday morning, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a crash involving a trooper that occurred on I-10 east of LA HWY 44 in Ascension Parish.

The crash occurred as the trooper was stopped on the right hand shoulder of I-10 eastbound. Christopher K. Morris (46) of Gonzales was driving eastbound on I-10 and attempted to pass another vehicle on the right hand shoulder. His vehicle struck the rear of the state police unit. The trooper, Morris and a 13 year old passenger in Morris’s vehicle received minor injuries in the crash.

Morris was charged with third offense DWI, two counts of vehicular negligent injuring, careless operation, driving under suspension, and open container. He was booked into the Ascension Parish jail.
