UPDATE: Scott Fire Investigators have determined that a house fire, Sunday, in the 200 block of Harvest Point Circle, has been ruled accidental in nature.  Fire Chief Chad Sonnier says the exact cause is still unable to be determined.

ORIGINAL: The Scott Fire Department is investigating a house fire that happened around 4 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Harvest Point Circle.

Fire officials say they arrived and found a heavy fire coming from the carport area, and also coming out of the attic.

The fire was brought under control within twenty minutes but the home sustained major damage. A few neighboring homes received minor heat damage.

Scott fire officials say one person, a male, who lives at the home received minor burns to the head, all other members of the family managed to escape.

Two of the family’s pets, however, were unable to make it out.

Fire units from Lafayette, Duson and Judice responded to assist. The cause is under investigation.
