On Saturday, March 28th, St. Landry Parish Juvenile Detectives arrested 35 year old Franchesca Spears, of Opelousas. The investigative effort that lead to her arrest began several days earlier, when a concerned parent presented evidence which indicated that inappropriate electronic communications of a sexual nature had been taking place between Franchesca Spears and her teenage son.

After thorough investigation, detectives harvested sufficient evidence of Probable Cause to arrest Spears on six different charges. The current charges reflect association with three separate juveniles. Franchesca Spears is currently held on bond totaling $97,500 dollars, pending trial. Her charges are:(2 Counts) Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Minor Indecent Behavior with Juveniles Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes. Pornography Involving Juveniles

The investigation is ongoing. St. Landry parish Juvenile Detectives are aware of allegations that other juveniles may have been subject to inappropriate actions and additional charges are possible. No details regarding the juveniles will be released.

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated… “Our Juvenile Detective Division has been carefully assembled over the years. The detectives are well trained in this very specialized field. When we deal with sexual crimes against children, the case file is usually quite complex. Electronic communications must be verified, substantiated, documented and copied according to strict guidelines. Interviews with any juveniles involved are conducted according to state and federal guidelines. The completed case file in an investigation of this nature ends up to be quite thick, filled with details and data covering sometimes hundreds of electronic communications and any number of inappropriate contacts with juveniles.”

Sheriff Guidroz added… “Franchesca Spears has been arrested and she will have her day in court. In the meantime, as Sheriff, I ask that any parents associated with this investigation refrain from unnecessary discussion regarding the details of the case. When our detectives have finished their investigation, the case file will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office. Until then, let those dedicated professionals do their job. Any un-released information entered into the public forum in places like Facebook could potentially interfere with our ongoing investigation”
