Some small business owners in Youngsville say the city’s rapid growth has made it tougher for them to survive.
Pat’s grocery store has closed its doors for good. The store opened in 1988 and was the only grocery store in Youngsville for nearly 20 years. Co-owner Kelli Louviere says the store was very busy when Youngsville first started growing. But she says business dropped when larger grocers like Rouse’s moved in.
Blaine Broussard owns Nunu’s, the second grocery store to open in Youngsville. He says city officials need to consider the community as a whole when it comes to development. Broussard says it’s good that developers are interested in the city. He just doesn’t want it to lose its small town feel.
