Military father surprises children after six month deployment

What started out as a normal day ended with a big surprise for a couple of Jefferson students that they will never forget.

There are a few things that may surprise you from pop quizzes to a homework assignment you didn’t know about but for Elizabeth and Jackson Bousquet, this surprise didn’t have anything to do with school work.

The students at Jefferson Elementary attended an assembly where students were called up to ring a bell for the goals they achieved. The first student to be called up was Life student Jackson and the last person was his sister kindergarten student Elizabeth. They both thought it was just a normal assembly, but what followed was the surprise of a lifetime.

“I thought I would never see him again,” Elizabeth Bousquet said.

SMSgt Steven Bousquet has been serving in the United States Air Force for 24 years and he is stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. For the past just over six months, he’s been deployed in Southwest Asia and he said he is excited to be home.

“I was crying before I even walked out here so it’s a little different world when you are over there especially over the holidays you miss stuff like that. Obviously, emotions took over and I’m just so happy to be home and see my loved ones,” SMSgt Bousquet said.

Now that he is home, SMSgt Bousquet has already planned the first thing he wants to do.

“Take these kids back to Oklahoma spend the weekend with them and then get the house ready because I’ve got them for Spring break,” SMSgt Bousquet said.

One thing is for certain now that SMSgt Bousquet has come home, he has a lot of love to soak up while he’s here.

We here at KFDX what to send out a big thank you for SMSgt Bousquet’s service and all he does to help protect our country.
