WASHINGTON – The troops on the front lines of the war against opioid trafficking are in the nation’s capital this week.

Narcotics officers from across the country are meeting with members of Congress and lobbying for continued support and federal funding.  

The gathering comes just weeks after the enactment of a bipartisan criminal justice reform law that eases federal penalties for some drug offenders. 

The National Narcotic Officers’ Associations opposed the bill, and so did Arkansas U.S. Senator Tom Cotton.  

Drew Petrimoulx reports the group has chosen Cotton as their legislator of the year.
