DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WKRG) — About 75 miles south of Dauphin Island, a fisherman caught some lucky footage of a pod of whales moving through the area.

Kurt Tillman spotted the pod from the IXOYE, and uploaded the footage to Facebook.

In the video, you can see the whales surfacing for air, and showing off their huge tail fins.

While seeing the giant, marine mammals in person isn’t very common, the Gulf of Mexico is home to many species of whale, and other species pass through the Gulf for its warm waters and abundant food supply.
