Angelle Primeaux is a busy track and cross country star for Lafayette High.
“I run the mile, the 400, the 800, the 4 by 4, the 4 by 8, I’ll do the SMR, DMR, and I also run cross country… so, I’m pretty busy,” she explains.
Being busy fits her, though.
She’s won 5 state championships in various events, and looks for more hardware later this year, in the mile, and the 800, 2 of her top events.
She is the latest KLFY Athlete of the week.
The fact she’s competing at all is amazing.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Primeaux suffered a concussion, after getting tripped in a state meet.
In her sophomore season, she had back surgery to reconstruct her spine, because it was at a 52-degree angle, and moving her organs.
“I had to put two rods, and tons of screws in my back. I was out of running for a few months and having to come back from total reconstructive surgery. I guess the concussion was nothing to come back because I’ve had much worse.I couldn’t do any of this without God’s hand. he’s always holding me because I’ve been through a lot of adversity in the past two years,” Primeaux says.
Her hard work pays off and continues to as she heads to LSU next fall to run track and cross country for the Tigers.
