BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – While the LSU Tigers practiced “No Turnover Wednesday” in preparation for their biggest game of the season, local businesses were prepping for one of the busiest weekends of the year.
“It’s going to be a circus,” said Mahoney’s bartender Leah Hill. “It’s going to be to be pretty busy, it is for every home game. So we’re expecting this one to be the best one all season.”
At Mahoney’s Irish bar near the LSU campus, the staff doubled up on food and booze, and opening early for the weekend crowd.
Meanwhile, downtown businesses are expecting tide fans to roll in Thursday morning to pack in a full weekend in the Capital City.
“Along with all the hotels in the downtown area, we are totally full. We are sold out,” said Hotel Indigo’s nigh manager Jeremy Platter.
Like Mahoney’s, Hotel Indigo doubled its staff for the Bama weekend. No matter who their customers are pulling for, the hotel and others are already considering this weekend a big win.
“Anytime Alabama comes to town it brings a big energy, big vibrancy to the city,” Platter said.
