Coming off of the program’s third straight Sun Belt Conference tournament championship, the 17th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team was selected as one of the 16 regional hosts as the Lafayette Regional will be played at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field from June 3-6, the NCAA announced on Sunday night.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be with the other 15 regional sites that were awarded by the NCAA,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “This is a huge reward for our players and coaching staff to be able to play on a national stage in front of one of the best fan bases in the country.

“The last two times that we have hosted a regional at The Tigue, the atmosphere was amazing and our fans turned out in great numbers. I’m confident they will do the same again this year. I also have great confidence in president Dr. E. Joseph Savoie, Director of AthleticsScott Farmer and our Associate Director of Athletics John Dugas to make this a first class event for our fans and the teams and fans that will visit.”

The three other regional participants for the Lafayette Regional will be announced on Monday at 11 a.m. on ESPNU.
