David Bernard didn’t know a thing about wrestling when he transferred to Teurlings from E.D. White, last year.

But, after an impromptu conversation with Rebels’ Wrestling Coach Kent Masson, David thought he’d give the sport a try.

David says, “It was funny because I didn’t know any of the techniques or moves, and coach said, we can teach you that.”

Coach Kent Masson says the best thing about David is his ability to learn from every situation.

“It amazes me that he’s always so passionate about it. It’s that passion that allows him to get better, despite a win or a low. He’s got a real love for the sport,” the coach says.

And his move to the mat paid off in a big way.  David helped the Rebels win the Ken Cole Tournament, and place high in some other highly regarded state tournaments.

Dave says, “we have a solid group, and because of that we had the opportunity to perform well at many of the state’s biggest events.”
