LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball program’s quest for a seventh trip to the Women’s College World Series begins Friday, May 22 at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Ala., in the opening game of a best-of-three series with Auburn in the NCAA Super Regional.

The dates and times for the Auburn Super Regional featuring national No. 4 seed Auburn (52-9) and national No. 13 seed Louisiana (42-10) have been set.

The Ragin’ Cajuns and Tigers meet Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 with all three games on the ESPN family of networks, with Cara Capuano and Leah Amico calling the action.

Game 1 on Friday will take place at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) televised on ESPNU. Game 2 begins Saturday at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) and the third game, if necessary, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (CDT). Both games Saturday are set to air on ESPN.AUBURN SUPER REGIONAL SCHEDULEFriday, May 22

Louisiana, appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 25th time overall in the past 26 years, has advanced to the NCAA Super Regional round for the fourth straight year (2012-15) and sixth time in the past eight years (since 2008).

The Ragin’ Cajuns claimed the NCAA Lafayette Regional with a 9-1 (6 inn.) win over Baylor in a winner-take-all finale on Sunday for the right to advance to the NCAA Auburn Super Regional.

Michael Lotief‘s squad is in search of a return trip to Oklahoma City. A year ago, the Cajuns swept Arizona in the NCAA Lafayette Super Regional to advance to the 2014 WCWS, the program’s sixth appearance. Previous WCWS trips for UL occurred in: 1993, 1995, 1996, 2003, 2008 and 2014.

Auburn defeated South Alabama 7-4 Sunday to win the first-round NCAA Regional at Jane B. Moore Field and advance to the super regional round for the first time in program history.

Louisiana and Auburn are set meet on the softball field for the first time since Feb. 2003 when the Cajuns and Tigers faced off in the ULM Mardi Gras Classic in Monroe. The Cajuns won the contest 9-1 in six innings.
