BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – A state prosecutor says LSU defensive back Jalen Mills will enroll in a one-year pretrial diversion program instead of facing trial on a simple battery charge.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1c8JZ5n ) prosecutor Steven Danielson told state District Judge Chip Moore Wednesday that Mills must remain arrest- and drug-free, submit to random drug testing, perform 30 hours of community service, undergo a psychological evaluation and attend a decision-making class as part of the program.

Danielson said the woman who was allegedly punched by Mills in May outside of Mills’ apartment complex agreed with the decision to let Mills enter the diversion program.

Mills was scheduled to stand trial Wednesday on the battery charge.
