It was a sea of red at the Cajundome tonight for UL-Lafayette’s Ragin’ Cajun Fan Day.

Hundreds of fans came out to show their support for the university.

Fans were able to snap some pictures and even get a few autographs from their favorite players.

But for many fans, cheering on the Cajuns is a family affair.

“We get to see big time college football and do it all together and have days like today.” Ed Granger told KLFY.

The Granger family has grown up bleeding red and black.

Ed Granger says each generation in his family attended UL-Lafayette, who graduated in 1972.

And now it’s become a tradition for their family. Granger’s son graduated in 2014.

“Yea we are raising future Ragin’ Cajuns here. Bringing up the future generation.”” Said Granger.

A tradition they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon “Yes? Very obvious!.” Granger’s grandson said.

Amber Ortis, a UL-Lafayette cheerleader, says she grew up watching the Cajuns “It’s indiscernible. I’ve always sat in the stands and looked down at the field and always dreamed of being on the field.”

Ortis says she’s proud to be able to call herself a real Ragin’ Cajun, “Being on the field and being in front of all the fans instead of being a fan is even better than I could ever imagine. It’s a great feeling. I love it.

Soccer season is already underway and the rest of the fall sports will kick off later this month.
