LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – On Monday, members of the Ragin Cajun Softball program addressed the media for the first time this season.

While the the season opener as well as the returners were many of the topics discussed, everyone was wondering how Coach Glasco was, following the death of his daughter, Geri Ann.

She was killed in a car crash in January on I-10.

“That was a big loss for the team and we all know that,” said Associate Head Coach Mike Roberts, “we’re just trying to take one step at a time moving forward. Getting our players back into those routines, those daily routines and we’ll just work from there.”

Geri Ann Glasco was a volunteer coach for the cajuns.

“Everyday’s a new struggle and we’re trying to get through it as best we can,” explained Catcher Lexi Comeaux, “everyone pretty much knows that this season will be dedicated to her and I hope that every season is dedicated to her in some way because she did a lot for this university in a very short amount of time.”

“If you know anything about Geri Ann, you know she’d be the one to step up and push each other to keep going through it,” said Shortstop Alissa Dalton, “It’s no longer about what can we do or how can I do it it’s more about what would G do, how would she come out here and give 100 percent.”

The Cajuns will open their season on Thursday against Fordham.

First pitch is set for 5p.m. at Lamson Park for the Ragin Cajuns Classic.
