NEW ORLEANS – A report by FOX Sports/NFL says that the Saints will fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan following a dismal performance by the team’s defense against Washington Sunday.

Head coach Sean Payton, in his morning press briefing, said no moves with coaches have been decided upon at this time.

“Continuing on this same course, is something we’re not going to do,” he said. Payton said Ryan was still a member of the staff, but he did not offer support to the embattled coach.

Facing one of the league’s worst offenses, the Saints surrendered nearly 400 yards in the first half alone and allowed quarterback Kirk Cousins to have a perfect passer rating in a 47-14.

The Saints were already the 31st-ranked defense going in to that game.
