The next time you order a meal through Waitr, a Saints player could deliver it to your door.

Surprise Saints delivery in the New Orleans market is possible because of a new partnership between Waitr, a mobile app that provides restaurant ordering and delivery, and the New Orleans Saints.

Tuesday’s announcement begins a multi-year partnership between the two Louisiana brands.

“The alignment of the New Orleans Saints and Waitr is a match made in heaven,” said Sonny Mayugba, chief marketing officer of Waitr, in a press release. “The Saints Nation is among the most passionate and loyal fans in the NFL. We see that same passion and loyalty from Waitr fans.”

Waitr branding will be featured throughout the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and on the New Orleans Saints mobile site and app. Fans can also meet Saints mascot, Gumbo, in select Waitr restaurant partner locations around New Orleans.

“We believe that Waitr is an outstanding app that instantly connects our fans with hundreds of great restaurants that Louisiana is known for,” said Michael Stanfield, Saints Senior Vice President of Sales, in the press release. “Waitr is a Louisiana-born brand that is rapidly changing the way food is delivered to customers, and we’re proud to partner with them in their incredibly impressive growth.”Related: Waitr to expand, relocate headquarters

Waitr started in 2013 in Lake Charles. The company now has hundreds of thousands of users who order from more than 1,200 restaurants in 17 markets.

“The Gulf South and Louisiana are the food capital of the world,” Mayugba said. “And this partnership will allow us to combine two of Louisiana’s favorite past times — sharing great food and football. We could not be prouder than to have Waitr as the official food delivery app of The Saints.”
