It’s homecoming week at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Festivities started of with a food truck round-up at the Alumni Center.

Many student showed up despite the rainy weather.  There were more than 10 different food trucks. Some had Ragin’ Cajun themed items like the “Ragin’ Cajun Stuffed Burger” and the “Red Hot Ragin Cajun Snowball.”

Jennifer Lemeunier, the Alumni Association Executive Director, said it’s just the beginning of a long list of events. And there is something new this year, “We have a pub crawl so we’re going to have a group of individuals who joined the pub crawl who will go from bar to bar and take advantage of some specials.”

Zachary Kuntsman is a third generation student in his senior year at the university. He said it becomes a family affair every homecoming, “My mom is actually here today and this whole week to celebrate homecoming and we’re both looking forward to it.”

Homecoming at UL Lafayette is new to some like Ty Katsarelis, who’s a transfer student from the University of Houston.

“This is my first homecoming so I don’t know what to expect really. Probably some good food and a good time I’m sure,” Kuntsman told KLFY’s Jazmin Thibodeaux.

Carter Stevens, a junior at UL Lafayette, said the parade is what he looks forward most to each year, “Barn Yard Bash is where we get together and put together the floats for the homecoming parade and something else is the actual parade which is Saturday morning.” said Stevens.

The university is encouraging all students to wear red this week in support of the Ragin’ Cajuns.
