OPELOUSAS, La, (KLFY) Opelousas Police say a woman was shot and wounded Thanksgiving Night in the parking lot of the Walmart during a child custody exchange.
It happened just after 5 p.m.
Police Chief Martin McLendon said the female victim is the aunt of a child who was at the scene when the shots were fired.
She was shot in the upper torso and transported to a local hospital where her condition is listed as stable, McLendon said.
The suspect, 22-year-old Jordan Sereal, fled the area with a female in the car and was last seen heading Southbound on I-49 towards Lafayette.
He was later captured by Lafayette police and is currently awaiting a transfer back to Opelousas to face charges, McLendon said.

The child was unharmed, McLendon said.
