ACADIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) – One person is dead, another arrested, and a third still at large.
34-year-old Tyla Meche of Churchpoint is not only wanted by Acadia Sheriff’s deputies, but her family is also out searching as well.
Sunday afternoon, the family of Tyla Meche searched the wooded area just west of Branch, hoping to find their niece and sister who’s wanted in a homicide investigation.
“If you’re anywhere you can see this I’m begging you to please surrender. The longer you go the worse it will be for you” said Nichole Lacombe, Meche’s older sister.
Lacombe yelled into the wooded area hoping to get a response, not sure if her younger sister is hurt or even nearby.
According to Acadia sheriff’s deputies, both suspects and the victim were driving around Saturday night when one passenger shot the victim.
They dumped the body then the vehicle and fled into the wooded area west of Branch near the home of Tracy Hayes.
“The cops came over here, I was fixing to go fishing and he asked if he could search around the house, they were looking for two suspects for murder”, Hayes said as he describes the scene Sunday morning.
Around 8 am Sunday deputies found and arrested 32-year-old Kervee Woodard on a charge of second-degree murder.
With tears in her eyes, Nichole had a message for her sister.
“Just please, if you see this, I am begging you to please, please contact someone.”
Meche was last seen near the Branch and White Oak Highway area.
Officials say anyone with information on Meche is urged to call Acadia Parish Sheriffs Office.
