Over 9,000 students reported to school in Acadia Parish today.
Superintendent Scott Richard says his goal was to visit every school campus in the parish. Scott Richard, Superintendent of Acadia Parish School System, says, “The goal today is to visit all 26 school sites in Acadia Parish and we’re asking our parents to be mindful of the new school zones that are in place.”
Branch Elementary has 281 students enrolled in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. Superintendent Richard says the Acadia Parish School System has worked hard preparing for this day.
“We welcome our parents, our students, and I want to thank our staff. All of our teachers have been working very hard to get prepared for this first day,” Superintendent Richard adds.
Over 9,000 students are enrolled in the Acadia Parish School System. Superintendent Richard says a safe-school environment for them is his priority.
“We need our students in school, so we’re asking our parents to get them to school this week so we can start the learning process,” Superintendent Richard says. “That’s the goal this year. We want to make sure every kid is in a safe environment and that high-quality learning is going on starting today.”
Branch Elementary was the fourth school Superintendent Richard visited this morning. He recognizes law enforcement for playing an important part in today’s transition.
Superintendent Richard says, “Just want to thank the parents for their cooperation and the citizens of Acadia Parish and all the law enforcement agencies for being visible today and over the next few days to make sure we start everything without any problems.”
Superintendent Scott Richard officially began his position last month.
