Police arrested a couple accused of skipping out on the bill at multiple restaurants around Acadiana.

“They were like the Bonnie and Clyde of Lafayette.. Dine and dashers,” says Tim Metcalf, owner of Deano’s pizza and twice-victim of the accused dine and dashers.

The infamous couple, Benjamin Carriere and Lorelei Lowery, were running over $100 tabs wherever they went and then skipping out on paying the bill.

However one of their last hits, the one to Pizza Village on Kaliste Saloom, was the one that finally cost them, “Recently I’d upgraded our camera systems, so we went into full-blown detective mode,” says general manager, Cody Broussard.

He tells us that once they posted the images of the couple on social media, it was community members that helped bring them to justice, “Within an hour we knew the people’s names, we knew a lot of information… It was good to see that Lafayette came through for us.”

The work of the community ended up helping not only Pizza Village and Deano’s Pizza, but other restaurants as well. From the feedback received, it’s estimated that this couple hit about 7 or 8 restaurants in Acadiana.

Broussard says he hope this experience serves as an example to those who plan on dining and dashing in the future, “Don’t do it. Stay away ’cause you’re going to get caught.”
