SCOTT, La. (The Advertiser)- Gotreaux Family Farms is closing this week.
The local farm sold fruit, vegetables, eggs, fish, poultry and more to Acadiana for 17 years through the Hub City Farmers Market and its farm stand at 205 Facile Road in Scott.
Brian Gotreaux announced plans to close the farm on Tuesday morning through the Gotreaux Family Farms Facebook page.
“Facebook Peeps, Gotreaux Family Farms is Closing,” the post said. “This is our last week being open at our farm stand. We have run our 17 year season well! Our family moves forward into serving the community in new exciting ways. We thank you for believing in us! Support your local growers, they give so much to bring the fruit of their labor to you. Keep Acadiana strong! Keep the love!”
This isn’t the first farmer to call it quits in recent years.
WesMar Farm in Moreauville closed in 2016 after historic flooding made it difficult to continue operations.
The small dairy farm offered goat milk, cheese and beauty products to central and south Louisiana.
