A Winnsboro man died in a motorcycle crash Sunday.

It happened on Calhoun Road near the intersection with Furr Road in Franklin Parish, according to State Police. 

An initial investigation has revealed that the crash occurred as a motorcycle driven by 43-year-old Wesley J. Meadows was traveling north on Calhoun Road when for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle traveled off the road and struck a ditch embankment.

Meadows was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office, police said. 

A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.
