The death toll continues to rise in Sri Lanka. Police now say 290 people were killed in a series of nine suicide bombings yesterday that targeted Catholic churches and luxury hotels. The US state department says several Americans are among the dead.
Sri Lanka’s prime minister called for unity and support within the country saying “We are to ensure that terrorism does not lift its head in Sri Lanka”
The US state department sent out a travel advisory saying “Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Sri Lanka.”
So far, no one has claimed responisbility for the attack and recovery efforts are expected to continue.
