(KLFY)- Gov. John Bel Edwards was in St. Mary Parish Thursday to inspect the barge sinking at Bayou Chene in anticipation of the rising river levels.
The barge is 400 feet long and 100 feet wide, and officials say it’s about 20 feet tall.
It’s being fixed in the mouth of Bayou Chene to prevent flooding in high risk like areas like lower St. Martin Parish. The barge will be there as long as the Morganza Spillway is open, and probably a few days after.
