Next Tuesday, the Lafayette City-Parish council will consider a resolution to stop “drag queen story time.”

The event for 3-6 year olds is scheduled to take place at the Lafayette Public Library on October 6.

Councilmen William Theriot and Jared Bellard authored a resolution “denouncing” the event.

They say it’s not an age appropriate educational program.

The resolution also says the goal of the council is to spend the public’s tax dollars wisely — making sure the expenditure is both appropriate and serves the needs of its citizens.
