LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- The lifeblood of any city is directly tied to commercial and retail growth. Lafayette has seen that growth with the construction of Ambassador Crossing and the Ambassador Town Center.
“Lafayette draws people from surrounding parishes,” says Lafayette City-Mayor Joel Robideaux.
Ryan Pecot works for Stirling Properties, which works with different companies who are scouting out cities as potential locations for their businesses.
He explains the specifics of finding the right hot spot for a commercial or retail businesses in Lafayette.
“Certain tenants say business has to be on a certain side of the road to be successful,” says Pecot.
Robideaux said he sees the untapped potential for retail and commercial business to expand into downtown Lafayette.
“There’s $200 to $400 in development potential downtown,” Robideaux said.
Pecot said people in Lafayette want a good experience and the success of a retail or commercial business is experience-based.
As Lafayette continues to become a more competitive market when it comes to retail and commercial expansion, it’s crucial that existing businesses keep bringing their game.
“Retailers with the best product survive the storm,” Pecot said.
