On Newsfeed Now for Feb. 21, a report released by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) says the number of hate groups in the U.S. is on the rise–up seven percent from 2017 to 2018. The watchdog group identified 1,020 hate groups operating in the country last year–the highest number they’ve ever counted. Washington D.C. correspondent Mark Meredith gives more details.

Next, we went to Louisiana, where a mom is facing charges after sharing her son’s video of a school fight. During an investigation of the incident, Scott Police Department’s school resource officers found that Maegan Adkins-Barras, 32, of Broussard, allegedly obtained a video of the fight that occurred on the campus of Acadiana High School on Tuesday, February 19 from her son’s cell phone. KFLY’s Dalfred Jones gives us the latest on the investigation.

We then took a look at unclaimed property that is currently being stored in Missouri’s State Capitol. State treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick says one in ten Missourians has unclaimed property. KSNF’s Jeremiah Cook joins us from Joplin with more information.

And finally, we take a look at how electronic sports are gaining popularity in the southern part of the U.S. WKRG’s Dana Winter tells us about how Alabama is now embracing the new sport.
