CAMERON PARISH, LA  – The body of a young, white and slender woman was found Wednesday morning in Cameron Parish along Sweetlake Camp Road, according to KPLC TV.

Around 7:13 a.m., a school bus driver saw the body in the tall grass on the shoulder of the road.

Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson says there are no obvious signs of trauma, but investigators are treating the death as a homicide.

Calcasieu crime scene investigators are assisting.

The body is being taken to the Calcasieu Forensic Facility to determine the cause of death. Johnson says it is believed the body was there less than 24 hours, increasing the chance of identification.

“It appears to be a younger, white female, adult size, slender,” Johnson said. “We do not know what the cause of death is. That will be revealed by the coroner’s office. We’re very optimistic about getting an ID on the body.”

Johnson asked anyone with information or who thinks they know someone who has gone missing to contact the Cameron Sheriff’s Office at 337-775-5111.
