BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY)- SLEMCO will be opening an additional service center in Broussard by year’s end, the company announced today.
“After analyzing the statistics of where headquarter field crews work each day, our management team realized we could more effectively serve our customers in both South Lafayette and St. Martin Parishes, if we had a fully-staffed service center located nearby,” said Mary Laurent, SLEMCO communications manager.
“Cost savings in travel time, man-hours, fuel, and wear and tear on our trucks all pointed to the same conclusion,” she added.
A large percentage of service orders, work orders and outage calls worked out of SLEMCO’s company headquarters near Carencro, are in the South Lafayette/St. Martin Parish area. In addition to cost savings, response time for SLEMCO members in the area will be faster once the new service center is operational because crews and equipment will be close by, the company said.
“SLEMCO is committed to building the most reliable electric distribution system possible. The same goes for our service,” Laurent said. “If we need new substations, our in-house engineers design them and build them. If statistics show we need an additional service center, we build those, too. Its in our DNA to do whatever it takes to be the best at what we do.”
SLEMCO provides electric power to more than 108,000 residential, commercial and industrial consumers throughout Acadiana
