St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect who was involved in an alleged beating of an elderly man who family members have identified as Henry Guidry.

Deputies say Guidry told them he was at a gas station on Thursday morning when the suspect allegedly beat him repeatedly with a tire rod.

He told deputies that he had to crawl under his truck to stop from getting hit in the head.

Guidry also said that the suspect got in his car (possibly an older model Toyota or Honda white in color, deputies say) and drove off.

The man told authorities that he never saw the suspect before and believes he was between 25-30 years old.

Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Landry Crime Stoppers at 948-TIPS (8477).

Family members of Guidry have told News 10 that he is a disabled vet who was on his way to a doctor’s appointment when the attack happened.
