RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.- A Russellville High School graduate has now been reunited with her class ring from over 30 years ago.
“I was around 18-years-old and me and my boyfriend were at Lake Dardanelle,” said Melissa Inman Byrd.
It was at that time when a piece of her senior year took a dive to the bottom of the lake.
“We were in the water, then when we came, it was gone. I noticed it immediately,” said Byrd.
Almost 32 years later, a tagged post on Facebook, and a complete stranger connected Inman to her long lost ring.
Monday the two women met in Russellville to do the exchange.
For years, June Vaughn and her late husband would go to Lake Dardanelle and use underwater metal detectors and find little hidden treasures, like that class ring.
“We’ve found a lot of wedding rings that people lose for one reason or another, and it’s been fun over the years,” said June Vaughn.
Byrd says you can’t put a price tag on her high school memento.
“It means more to me now then what it did before, and I’m going to carry it with me always,” said Byrd.
