BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – Two people were hospitalized after a car broke through a barricade at the Race for the Cure 5K on Saturday morning.

LSU Police says a race participant was hit by a vehicle on West Lakeshore Drive near LSU’s Sorority Row after the driver suffered from a medical issue behind the wheel and broke through a barrier before driving into the crowd.

The incident happened before 10:30 a.m.

The race participant was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver was also hospitalized, but their condition is not known.
