Two men were arrested and charged with six counts of Principle to Attempted Second Degree Murder with a bond of $350.000 dollars each.
On Saturday, officers responded to a drive-by shooting in the 600 block of Congress St. Officers spoke to the complainant who stated that he along with friends were sitting inside of a vehicle parked in front of 616 Congress St in Opelousas. It was at this point that they observed a white car stop in front of the residence and recognized two black males in the back seat, He identified them as Devin Mallet and Donkiethen Mallet. Several gun shots were fired at the complainant. A white van that was parked unoccupied at the residence was struck by one round. The white car then fled the scene. Officers later located Mr. Donkiethen Mallet, and the presumed driver of the white car, Leroy Joseph Cooley III.
Officers are still searching for one other suspect, Devin Mallet. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Mr. Devin Mallet please contact the Opelousas Police Department. All calls will remain anonymous.
