An American tourist died and several others were injured Sunday after the boat they were on caught fire in the Bahamas, CBS News reported.

The boating accident happened off the coast of the town of Barraterre island on the island of Exuma. 

Shortly after 9 a.m., ten American tourists and two Bahamians were onboard a 40’ chartered tour boat traveling just off Barraterre, when an engine exploded. The explosion caused the boat to catch fire, according to CBS News. 

Ten people on board were injured and taken to the hospital in George Town. A female, the American tourist, had died, according to CBS News.

Several others are being airlifted for further medical treatment to Nassau with possible further airlift to Miami.
