BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – The Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge is branching into broadcasting with the launch of a new radio station: The Mighty WSGX 95.1 FM.
The Greater Baton Rouge Business Report (http://bit.ly/1E46yCF ) says the new station – which will feature news, conservative talk, and music from the 1950s-1970s – is a nonprofit, meaning it won’t sell commercial airtime. Instead, it will be supported through corporate sponsorships and private donations.
Chamber President Woody Jenkins is helping to launch the station. The former state lawmaker and publisher of several publications, including Capital City News and Central City News, says the station will fill a void in the local broadcasting community.
Jenkins says volunteers will staff the station, which is scheduled to go on the air in June.
