BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Authorities say an infant brought to a Baton Rouge hospital suffering from blunt force trauma has died, and the child’s father has been arrested.
The Advocate reports police were called to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Wednesday after John Hope had brought in his 3-month-old child with life-threatening injuries. Police say the infant had three skull fractures, multiple rib fractures, face and neck bruising, a bloody mouth and blood-shot eyes.
Police say Hope and the baby’s mother told doctors their daughter had fallen off a changing table, but emergency room staff said the child’s injuries did not align with their story.
Hope was booked Saturday with cruelty to a juvenile.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Hope.
Police say other charges are pending.(Copyright 2015 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.)
