The Calcasieu Parish sheriff says a 21-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of a man last week.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso announced Monday that Zachary A. Bench was charged in the death of Jody L. Barlow, 33. Deputies found Barlow’s body with multiple gunshot wounds on Thursday in a wooded area in Starks.

The sheriff says investigators believe Bench robbed Barlow, according to the American Press.

Authorities say Bench also was charged with armed robbery and obstruction of justice. Mancuso says Bench was helped and that other arrests were likely. Barlow’s truck, utility vehicle and trailer were found burned Saturday in a wooded area.

State Judge David Ritchie set Bench’s bond at $1.8 million.
