NEW ORLEANS—The Coast Guard is searching for a person in the water near Dauphin Island, Alabama, Tuesday.
Watchstanders received a report at 12:20 p.m. of a person approximately a half-mile from West End Public Beach in distress.
The reporting source said they were only able to see the person’s head and no other identifying characteristics.
Involved in the search are:
- A 45-Foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island
- An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans
- A boatcrew from the Alabama Marine Resources Division
- Members from the local fire department
