SCOTT, La. (KLFY)— Scott Fire Department extinguishes a residential fire within fifteen minutes.

Authorities with the Scott Fire Department tell KLFY that they received a call for a residential fire at 109 Silver Glen Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and fire emitting from the carport area of the home.

Firefighters say they made entry into the home, advancing to the carport in an effort to extinguish the fire.

Officials say they found in the a vehicle fully engulfed in fire in the carport.

KLFY is told that the fire was brought under control within fifteen minutes.

After an investigation, the fire was concluded to be accidental.

The initial fire is believed to have begun in the vehicle which was having mechanical issues earlier in the day. The fire then spread to the carport, which eventually advanced into the attic.

A neighbor was passing by the home when they noticed smoke and alerted the homeowner who retreated to a safe location and contacted 911.

There were no injuries reported.
