OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – Deputies have arrested two suspects from the St. Landry Crime Stoppers most wanted fugitive list.
Major Eddie Thibodeaux said tipsters began calling in eight minutes after the suspects’ names and photos were posted on social media.
Detectives arrested Jason Arlen Deville, 34, of Opelousas, and Samantha L. Kemp, 24, of Washington.
Deville was arrested and booked on felony theft charges after allegedly scamming parents out of $1,360 in January while “serving as an upcoming volunteer summer baseball coach,” according to Thibodeaux.
Kemp was arrested and booked on monetary instrument abuse. Kemp allegedly cashed a fake check in the amount of $2, 998 on January 27 at Vidrine’s grocery store.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby issued a written statement about the arrests:
“I want to take this opportunity to thank the tipsters of crime stoppers for coming forward with information on these fugitives. Working together through crime stoppers, law enforcement, social media and of course the tipsters, arrests are made and cases are being solved.”
