Louisiana State Police advise if you are detouring I-10 to avoid LA 27, LA 82 and Texas State Highway 82.
Sgt. James Anderson explains these highways are “extremely” congested due to a high volume of traffic.
The primary detour to get to Texas from Louisiana is I-49 North to I-20. If you’re traveling to Louisiana from Texas take I-20 East to I-49 South.
Other alternate routes include:
- U.S. 165 North to I-49 (Alexandria)
- and U.S. 171 to La. 111 continuing to La. 392 West then South on La. 191/Tx. 692 to Tx. Hwy 255 West
