Eunice police identify body found, now investigating as homicide

EUNICE, La. (KLFY) – Authorities have identified the body of a man who was found over a week ago and have ruled his death a homicide, according to the Eunice Police Department.

Chief of Police Randy Fontenot said Akeem Addidis Ceasar, 22, of Eunice, was shot to death in a wooded area near East Magnolia Avenue, off of LA Highway 13.


Several men, who were running their rabbit hunting dogs, made the discovery on the morning of February 1, 2016.

Investigators tell KLFY they have a person of interest in mind.

Ceasar had been missing since December 24, 2015.

Police “received results of DNA tests this afternoon which positively

identified the victim,” according to Fontenot.

The chief is asking anyone who had seen Akeem before or after Christmas Eve or has any other information to call the Eunice Police Department at (337) 457-2626.
