Hot Wok Chinese Restaurant on Cameron St. caught on fire on Monday.

Upon arrival, Scott Fire Department firefighters observed light smoke coming from the restaurant, and quickly rain the structure to investigate.

Once inside, firefighters found the owner with second-degree burns to his hands, arms and face; the victim was quickly moved to a safe area and provided medical attention.

Additional firefighters went into the kitchen area and found the fire near the stove. The majority of the fire was extinguished with the Fire Suppression Hood System. Firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for extension.

The fire was ruled as an accident.

While the victim was cooking, a fire ignited; He attempted to extinguish the fire, receiving the burns. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of the burns.

All customers were able to safely make it outside of the restaurant without injury.

The building received moderate damage in the kitchen area, and will reopen when repaired and the Fire Suppression Hood System is recharged.
