Governor Bobby Jindal was in Lafayette on Tuesday at a groundbreaking ceremony for CGI Federal.
The company will have a 90 million dollar economic impact over the next five years, and will create 400 direct jobs with a payroll of 22 million dollars.
CGI is the fifth-largest independent IT and business process services firm. The company said it is establishing a research and technology lab “to advance cutting-edge technologies.
As part of the deal to establish the business in Lafayette, the state promised to put 4 million dollars into the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s computer science and informatics program over the next decade.
